How to Choose Your First Product Mix for Resale
When you are starting a resale business, a large catalogue can make choosing harder. A useful first order gives you a manageable range to present, enough variety to learn from customers and room in the budget for the work around selling.
HANDCRAFT Aura allows resellers to choose different products in any combination and quantity. That flexibility supports your own brand, but the selection still needs a purpose. Here is a practical way to make your first shortlist.
Choose one customer situation first
Start with where you expect to sell: your home, a shop, an exhibition or an online channel. Then picture the customer and the reason they might buy. Their budget, available space and buying occasion will help you judge which products belong together.
For example, an exhibition customer may need to carry a purchase home immediately. An online customer needs clear dimensions and dependable packing information. These are different selling situations, even when a product appeals to both.
Give each shortlisted item a job
A small range can include an accessible starting choice, a main item that expresses your style, and a complementary option. These are planning roles, not required product categories or a formula for guaranteed sales.
For every item, finish this sentence: “I am including this because my customer will value…” If the only answer is that you personally like it, ask what evidence you have that your customers will also want it.
Use five checks before ordering
- Customer fit. Does it suit the people you can reach and the price range they consider?
- Clear information. Can you confirm its material, dimensions, supplied quantity, care and intended use?
- Practical handling. Can you store, display, pack and deliver it properly?
- Complete cost. Does the likely selling price leave room for the real costs of your channel?
- Presentation. Can you photograph and explain it clearly under your own brand?
Mark each answer as confirmed, needs checking or unsuitable. A simple notebook is enough. An unanswered specification question should stay a question; do not fill it with an assumption just to finish the list.
Keep money for more than the products
Minimum order value ₹10,000; products can be combined across categories. See Orders & Delivery for order and delivery information. Your own costs of launching and running a business also need to be planned.
Depending on your route, allow separately for labels, packaging, photographs, stall charges, platform charges, customer delivery and a working reserve. Decide those amounts using your actual plan rather than a fixed percentage copied from someone else.
Check the space and delivery limits
Measure your storage and display area. Consider how many pieces you can keep safely, whether products need protective packing and how customers will receive them. A low purchase price can be misleading if handling or delivery makes the item impractical for your business.
Aura supplies within India. Some products have location or handling restrictions. Confirm availability and delivery suitability for your city before ordering. Check the current Orders & Delivery information and include your delivery location in the discussion.
Buy a selection you can learn from
Plan what you want the first order to teach you. Which items make people stop? What details do they ask about? Which price points cause hesitation? What sells without repeated explanation, and what remains unsold?
Keep a simple record for each item: quantity received, quantity sold, actual selling price, direct selling costs, customer questions and remaining stock. Count enquiries separately from purchases. A popular social post does not necessarily mean customers are ready to pay.
Reorder using evidence
Before buying again, review what moved and why. Check whether sales came from a one-off event, a discount or repeat demand. If stock is slow, improve the photograph or explanation where appropriate, ask customers what is missing, and reconsider the next selection.
Confirm availability each time. A previous order does not guarantee that the same product, colour, price or quantity will be available later. Avoid advertising a fixed future delivery date until the supply and delivery arrangements are agreed.
A clear first enquiry
Send the product links or names, your proposed quantities, where you will sell and the delivery city. Mention that you are planning a mixed order if that is your intention. Ask about the details still marked “needs checking” in your shortlist.
Use Bulk Enquiry on the relevant product page or email support@handcraft.co.in. Discuss availability and delivery charges before payment. See Orders & Delivery for the ordering sequence.
Your first range does not have to express every idea for your future business. It should be a considered starting point that you can present well, manage responsibly and improve as you learn.
